Did you know we have several locally owned breweries in the area?! What we love most is how they all work and support each other in the small business + brewery world. For National Beer Day, we wanted to feature some of them and encourage you to venture out and see what they are all about.
LOCAL BREWERIES
Leaven Brewing Co. : In the heart of Riverview, just east of 301 on Boyette Road (11238 Boyette Rd). They are a husband and wife team, Jillian and KJ Lynch, truly bringing a family style brewery to the community. KJ has been brewing for over 8 years, finally opening up their own spot over 1700 days ago - something they keep their social media followers updated on often, as you get to know them better each day. You can read their full story here. Leaven offers craft beer and have a sandwich kitchen which is open Tuesday-Sunday.
We all know about great mug clubs for the beer lovers, but what about the kids?! Leaven offers a Bottle Club - how fun. One Saturday a month, you can head over to Leaven with your little one and spend an hour with a local kindergarten teacher for age appropriate learning and fun, plus a beer at the end for mom or dad is included. Drop in for Bottle Club is $25, no RSVP required, next meet up is April 23.
Three Bulls Tavern & Brewery “They say good fences make good neighbors; we say great beer does!”
Three Bulls is a neighborhood favorite located on Bell Shoals between Fishhawk Blvd and Bloomingdale Ave (4330 Bell Shoals Rd), It's crowded in the evenings filled with smiling faces. The story of Three Bulls goes back a generation, into the 80s, and we know we speak for everyone in the area, we are so glad that Jim and Tracy followed their dream of opening up “a place that embodies their favorite things: Food made from scratch, small batch, hand-crafted beer brewed on premise, a fun atmosphere that reflects our creativity and a place where old friends can convene and new ones can be made.” Read their entire story - its a great one - here.
Each weekend, they share their incredible specials on social media, so make sure to give them a follow! They also just expanded their hours and are open for lunch on Fridays starting at 11am.
Bullfrog Creek Brewing Co.: Located in Valrico, on Lithia Pinecrest just south of Bloomingdale Ave (3632 Lithia Pinecrest Rd). Bullfrog just celebrated 4 years in business, after learning how to brew their favorite beers right out of their garage. they are a local family owned brewery, and have something for everyone, with great indoor seating as well as an awesome outdoor turf patio that is dog friendly - including games and their own food truck serving up meals. They offer so much to the community, hosting BINGO nights helping local schools and organizations raise money, they have been the spot for many celebrations, and host a monthly market right outside featuring other small businesses. Bootleggers Brewing Company: Beginning ten years ago with BrewWorx Wine and Brewing Supplies located in Brandon, FL, where they opened their first tasting room 5 years into business. After four years of growing, they re-located to a Tampa zip code, you can find them on Causeway Blvd just west of I-75, borderline of Brandon/Tampa (10256 Causeway Blvd), now in a larger facility. They now have a small kitchen and more brew. They claim a “humble” size, but something for everyone. Bootleggers features vendor markets, plenty of trivia nights, a mug club and often offers unique events. They feature their specials on social media, so make sure to give them a follow!
